Paducah Shops Rebuilt GP-11 Locomotive Shell Kit

The GP-11 were re-built units from Electro-Motive Division (EMD) locomotives between 1978 and 1981. The GP-11 is essentially a remanufactured version of the GP7, GP9, and GP18 locomotives, with upgraded components and a new engine built at IC's Paducah Kentucky Shops.

The GP-11 locomotives were rebuilt to extend their lifespan and improve their performance. They feature a 16-cylinder EMD 645E3 diesel engine, which produces 1,800 horsepower. The locomotives also have a modernized electrical system, upgraded traction motors, and new electronics.

The GP-11 locomotives have been used by a variety of railroads in North America, including the Illinois Central, Burlington Northern, Union Pacific, and Canadian National Railway. While many GP-11 locomotives have been retired or replaced by newer models, some are still in operation today and continue to provide reliable service to railroads and their customers.
