PRR’s G41 coil cars were built with angled-top hoods, featuring an entirely flat bottom edge which fully overlapped all the cars’ coil troughs. Once the G41a cars were built, the G41s were modified to include the same self-locating hood features, and the angled hoods themselves received corresponding changes to fit onto the altered cars. This provided some subtle variation in the fleet alongside the usual round-top G41a hoods.
