Kennecott Copper purchased a small fleet of GP39-2 with an extra 26" to be used on the ore haul line between the Bingham Canyon Mine and the concentrators near Magna, Utah, where its high cab provided engineers with better visibility over loading shovels. These locomotives also had an extra clearance fuel tank to prevent damage in the mines.

HO Scale Kennecott GP39-2 fuel tank. Designed for use with Athearn Genesis GP39-2 models, but may be fitted to models by others with modification to the frame.
