Quality Products

The Hawker Siddeley PGE/BCR 50' newsprint cars, numbered 4501-4600, were part of a series of boxcars used by the Pacific Great Eastern (PGE) and later the British Columbia Railway (BCR) during the 1960s. These cars were specifically designed for transporting newsprint and paper products. Manufactured by Hawker Siddeley in 1966, they were equipped with features suitable for their intended cargo, such as plug doors to maintain cargo integrity during transport. The cars were finished in various paint schemes, including the PGE map scheme and the BCR dogwood scheme, reflecting the branding changes as the railway evolved. These boxcars were part of a broader fleet that served the railway's freight transport needs during a period of significant growth and development in the region
