In 1988, CN embarked on a refurbishment program, aiming to transform some of its existing 51'6" bulkhead flatcars into a distinctive version of the center-beam car which included some of the Ex-DW&P versions of this flatcar. The outcome of this initiative was a series of cars with the distintive center posts.
