These stock cars entered service in 1984 and remained operational until at least 1990. They were part of Canadian National's fleet during a period when the railway was still actively involved in livestock transportation, though this type of traffic was declining across North America during this era.The 811000-811059 series represented one of the later groups of purpose-built stock cars on CN's roster. As the demand for livestock transportation by rail decreased, many railways, including CN, were phasing out or converting their stock car fleets to other uses.
